Rings of Strength Returns to Las Vegas for Fifth Year
This year, the event will be held on Sunday, June 4, at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino due to the changes in the date pattern for the JCK Las Vegas show. (The show will run from Monday, June 5 to Thursday, June 8.)
Rings of Strength participants can choose a 5K walk or run, or one of two bike rides--a 50K bike ride in the foothills of Red Rock Valley or a street-level 10K bike ride.
The event will start 5:30 a.m. to avoid the heat of the Las Vegas sun. Rest stops will be provided along the route to make sure that everyone stays hydrated and energized.
For yogis, there also will be a 90-minute yoga session with instructor Suzanne Adams of Assurant starting at 9 a.m.
JCK Events once again serves as the major event sponsor for Rings of Strength, with JIS Exchange, Ashi Diamonds, Freeman and CMAC also having signed on as sponsors.
Rings of Strength was named for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital patients Maggie and Odie. Maggie spoke at the Facets of Hope event in Las Vegas in 2012, sharing the story of when she gave Odie a ring with the word “strength” engraved on it as they fought their shared battle with cancer.
This year, each participant in the event receives a silver ring to commemorate their participation, courtesy of Ashi Diamonds.
To sign up, visit RingsofStrength.org. Through the website, participates can create their own fundraising page and URL to share with friends and family to encourage sponsorship.
Participants can sign up as individuals or build a team page.
Since 2013, more than $250,000 has been raised by the event participants to support children in need through JFC’s charity partners: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Make-A-Wish America and the National CASA Association.
