China, Russia to put up joint gem bourse

China and Russia are planning to establish a joint trading exchange for coloured gemstones,israelidiamond.co.il.

The report quoted Konstantin Bunin, chief executive officer of Russian gold and diamond conglomerate Karat, as saying that his company received a proposal from the Beijing Gold Exchange and the Beijing Financial Asset Exchange to set up the joint bourse. A combined Chinese-Russian jewellery association is also in the offing, Bunin was cited as saying.
 
The proposal for a joint diamond and gem bourse received a warm welcome from the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment, the report added.
